The Highland River Group Ashley HomeStore in Greater Grand Rapids, MI area is looking for an engaging, customer focused, positive Administrative Office Assistant to join our team.

This position will work in our vibrant Ashley retail store in the Grand Rapids area. Retail Administrative team members are essential members of our extended Highland River organization assisting our store, sales, customer service and warehouse teams with all administrative Office tasks and processes necessary to sell high-quality furniture and bedding to customers throughout Western Michigan. Our Administrative Assistant team members ensure seamless administration of the necessary steps in the “purchase through delivery” sales process involving our customers, sales team members and distribution center staff. This essential role requires dedicated team members who enjoy working with people and specialize in being efficient. The position requires someone who can pay attention to critical details while working in a fast-paced, multi-task filled, retail work environment. 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide exceptional assistance to our retail store guests
  • Support team members, and managers
  • Complete regular, daily scheduled reports
  • Maintain office and sales records as needed
  • Process daily orders
  • Answer and direct phone calls
  • Ensure filing processes and systems are maintained
  • Writing and distributing emails, correspondence memos, letters, and forms
  • Monitor and order office supplies as necessary
  • Accomplish other duties as needed

Requirements for Success:

  • Able to work retail hours including weekends and some early evenings, as scheduled
  • Ability to have fun
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Good interpersonal / customer service communication skills
  • Prior retail customer service, office, or administrative experience is preferred
  • Self-starter, the ability to work independently and as a contributing team member
